Chosen by Kyha "Alter Ego" collection

We are very excited that the new collection from Chosen by Kyha has been launched. This collection is called “Alter Ego” and the dresses are out of this world.

“Alter Ego explores the concept of inner duality and self-acceptance. It is designed to offer the opportunity for women to express their individuality in sartorial form.

Alter Ego is a study in the symphony of contrasts. Artfully blending softness with hardness, signature draping contrasts with highly structured, drop waist bodices. Avant-garde new colourway, a rich midnight blue reminiscent of the depth of night skies, acts in duality to bright ivory, which emulates sunshine and light. The indulgence of luxe new silhouettes is countered by a pared back minimalist aesthetic.”

The collection features 13 new pieces, including separates, minis and the ultimate drop waists. In true Kyha style, they have used the softest tulles and slinkiest triacetates. Each is expertly draped to ensure brides feel and look their best.

MiliMili's Lockdown Glow Up

Well…that was a crazy few months, wasn’t it?

We don’t know about you, but since March we feel like life has totally changed. Never in a million years did we expect to see a pandemic that would turn the world - and the wedding industry - completely upside down. With the idea of ‘normal’ Spring/Summer 2020 nuptials a distant memory; we’re slowly starting to pick up the pieces of a fairly disastrous start to the wedding season.

One thing we can say is how wowed we have been by our awesome customers: even with postponements and cancellations, the positivity of our gorgeous brides-to-be has been inspiring, and we just want you to know that we are on hand to do whatever we can to make the process of re-planning your wedding easier, so you can look even more forward to your big day - whenever it may be.

And to the brides who are newly engaged, or just hadn’t had the chance to start searching for your dream dress yet, you’re in for a treat now that we have reopened!

MiliMili Makeover

For quite a while, Lauren had been talking about giving the shop a bit of an upgrade. Initially, it started off as a fresh coat of paint and an updated window display…but we all know what happens once you end up down a Pinterest rabbit hole!

When it was announced that all non-essential shops would be closing from 23rd March, many boutiques shut their doors and went home, waiting with bated breath for when they could reopen. But not us! Then began Operation: MiliMili Makeover. With time on our side (and no excuses to put it off!) we set upon transforming our boujee boutique into a modern bridal haven.

The Inspiration

The aim was to keep the luxury boutique experience that our brides have come to know and love, whilst maintaining the MiliMili identity.

We wanted to create a soft, warm and airy space, with plenty of dress-friendly lighting. We said goodbye to the famous flamingo decor, and hello to muted lilacs and greys with some industrial-style accents. Cutting down on clutter and creating a more streamlined look, allowed our rails of dresses to become the pure focal point against a simple, elegant background.

All Change

We pulled out the seating area from the changing suite to the shop floor; our soft, luxurious velvet armchairs and stools providing the perfect vantage point for the bride’s guests to await the big reveal!

Meanwhile, the changing suite itself now feels more spacious; with the addition of more mirrors, brighter curtains and a new display unit for our stunning Victoria Percival accessories - ready to try on to complete your look. (We left some pieces on the shop floor for your bridal party to look at too - you never know who has the best eye for detail!)

The most anticipated change of all is the beautiful hardwood flooring - and we’ve even had a custom desk built with the same wood, to carry the theme through the boutique. Sat atop the desk is our bespoke pampas arrangement, courtesy of our favourite local florist Dilly’s, which compliments the huge feathery feature they made for our window, too!

Something Old, Something New

We’ve kept some of the original aspects of our previous look: including the gorgeous Italian marble flooring, which has had a polish and shine - you can almost see your face in it.

Our team remains our biggest strength at MiliMili - after a few months away, the girls are itching to get back to consultations to help you find the perfect bridal look. And of course - you’ll find all the incredible designer gowns we are renowned for from Enzoani, Blue by Enzoani, Élysée, Élysée Atelier (coming soon) and Eliza Jane Howell. We’ll soon be receiving gowns from the 2021 collections, so now is the time to pay us a visit!

We can’t wait to welcome you to our new and improved boutique - to make an appointment, click here.

This Week at MiliMili - 3 September 2018

Hello everyone!

I hope you have all had a fantastic week.  Its been very busy in the boutique this week with getting the last of summer brides dresses fitted and ready to go.  One of the brides is Laura, who is Abby's sister.  She has a gorgeous dress and I can't wait to show the pictures of her wedding.

We have also received some new dresses into the boutique and they have been causing quite the stir on Instagram.  First up is one from the Enzoani's exclusive flagship collection - meet Mercedes!

Dramatic and elegant, this full-length mermaid gown features intricate beaded lace on a deep sweetheart neckline bodice, as well as rhinestones along delicate spaghetti straps. The back showcases a low illusion design embellished with criss-cross rhinestone straps and the most jaw-dropping, tiered lace and tulle train.

The second dress we received is from the Blue by Enzoani range.  The Blue by Enzoani collection focuses on contemporary dresses for the modern bride who does intricate details.

A sumptuous mermaid gown constructed with sequin embroidered lace on soft stretch georgette. The strapless, illusion V-neckline complements the gorgeous back with a cascading, illusion lace train.

If you would like to try either of these dresses give us a call on 01206 616368!

Who are MiliMili Bridal

Come April, we will have been open for 5 years! I know, crazy how time goes so quickly. You wouldn't believe though how many people still come in asking if we are new. So if you are one of those people who didn't know we existed, here are some facts about what we do.

We are a contemporary bridal boutique. Our dresses have a fashion edge to them. If you want a dress that makes everyone go "wow, thats gorgeous. So nice to see a bride in something different" then come to us.

We are a boutique. Why am I making a specific point on that you may ask? Its because as a boutique we can provide a service different to most other bridal shops. We provide a personal service, you get to know us as individuals just as we get to know you. Most brides seem to end up with my mobile number too so there is always someone at the end of the phone for you when you need us.

Our unique collection of dresses. I cant tell you how many brides have come into the shop and said "these dresses are so different to everywhere else we have been". We have brides coming from miles away just to see our collection as they cannot find anywhere else like it. Every dress in the boutique I have personally picked. There isn't one dress in here that I do not know or cannot explain the reason behind it being here. I have a strict quality policy that our designers have to meet before I will stock them. At the end of the day you girls are purchasing what will probably be the most expensive dress of your life, you want to know that these are quality pieces.

Oh and one final thing, I am rather fond of Jo Malone so we have several diffusers on the go, the boutique smells amazing!

So give us a call and come and see for yourself what we are like!

Cydney & Joe

On the blog today we are featuring the Boho perfect Cydney and Joe.  I posted a photo of Cydney on our facebook a few weeks ago and everyone absolutely loved it.  So now you are in for a treat with lots more pictures of their beautiful day.

Their wedding took place at Newland Hall in Chelmsford.  It is a beautiful setting consisting of a Tudor Manor House with a moat, stunning gardens and a woodland with 4 lakes!

Cydney has a blog and a popular Instagram account where she posts about all things trendy, so I knew that her dress was going to be something relaxed but fashionable.  The dress she decided on was Inaru by Blue Enzoani.  The dress has a fabulous feature back and is a champagne colour which worked beautifully with Cydney's skin tone.

Joe and Cydney's photographer for the day was HS Media, so a thank you to them for capturing the day.

Cydney's hair looked gorgeous!  The loose curls and stunning flower crown worked so perfectly with the dress and completed the boho style.

The bridesmaids complemented Cydney's look with their cute matching flower crowns.  You all have probably realised by now that we love something a little different from the ordinary and these bridesmaid dresses are a prime example!  The dresses are from Asos and are a step away from the traditional bridesmaid dress.

Talking of non traditional, has anyone noticed the shoes!  Cydney and her bridesmaids wore Cowboy boots!  Cydney's dad is American (he has a great American accent btw) and this was Cydney's nod to her American roots.

Joe looked very dapper in his suit as did his groomsmen.  I have to say, this makes me feel very old as I have known Joe's family for many years now and my main memory of Joe is of a little boy running round with a toy snake pretending to be Steve Irwin!

The flowers for the wedding were by Belle Rose Boutique.  The blue and coral are a gorgeous combination which carry on the Boho look.

The naked cake was by Sweet Sam and looks delicious.

Joe and Cydney put so much thought into the extra special touches for the day.  I love the flip flops for guest and the polaroid camera is a brilliant idea.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Willis!!  Thank you for allowing us to be part of your special day.
